One of the best kept gourmet secrets in Spain is a reasonably priced Ribeira Sacra wine called, difficult to obtain abroad, yet one of the most popular amongst knowing Spanish dinners, called Rectoral de Amandi. This really is a case of keeping the best for domestic consumption.

Fruit of vineyards that Nestle along the astoundingly beautiful, steep slopes that border the river Duero, in a rich wine-growing area of the northwest of Spain, is an outstanding mencia wine called Rectoral de Amandi. Allied to one of Spain’s biggest and most successful cooperatives ‘Vinos y Bodegas Gallegas’, Rectoral de Amandi has become well known for producing one of the best wines available in Spanish restaurants, yet little known abroad. Just one sip tells why it is so successful, but you will probably have to come to Spain, or order direct from the bodega to taste it.
